This light and refreshing drink accompanied me throughout my pregnancies. Full of nutrients, both minerals and vitamins, it gave me balance and health. Nettles, one of the main ingredients, contains iron, magnesium, and calcium among other minerals. It benefits anemia, leg cramps and varicose veins. Red raspberry tones the uterus and improves uterine blood supply. During labor and postpartum it’s useful in preventing hemorrhage. Alfalfa is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals. Oatstraw is full of calcium, silica, B vitamins and more, and is a relaxant. Red clover contains isoflavones, rosehip gives loads of vitamin C and peppermint helps with digestion and flavor. The recipe is based on Aviva Jill Romm’s Nourishing Tea recipe and can also be used postpartum to add richness to milk supply and hasten healing.
